Additional Information: Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides is a national charity whose mission is to provide service to Canadians with disabilities in the areas of mobility, safety and independence, Lions Foundation of Canada is in its 26th year of service providing specially trained Dog Guides to more than 1200 men, women and children aged eight to 84. While the cost of placing and training a Dog Guide is approximately $20,000, each eligible candidate is provided a Dog Guide- including all required training, travel and accommodation- at no charge.
The Lions Foundation of Canada trains five types of Dog Guides- Canine Vision Dog Guides, providing assistance to people who are blind or visually impaired; Hearing Ear Dog Guides, for people who are deaf or hard of hearing; Special Skills Dog Guides, providing assistance to Canadians with physical disabilities; Seizure Response Dog Guides, helping Canadians with epilepsy; Autism Assistance Dog Guides, helping children and parents provide safety, companionship, comfort and consistency. Additional Information: Hero Needed for This Year’s Terry Fox Run
This year’s Terry Fox Run in Didsbury needs a Hero. Every year, hundreds of communities
across Canada participate in the annual Terry Fox Run, raising funds for cancer research.
The Foundation is looking for an enthusiastic individual, group or organization in Didsbury
to be that hero. The Terry Fox Run Organizer will help continue Terry’s dream and give the
people of Didsbury the chance to continue participating in the Terry Fox Run, held on
Sunday, September 16, 2012.
The Terry Fox Run for cancer research brings the community together to support a worthy
cause that has touched the lives of many. Previous Run Organizers have gained experience
in leading and inspiring a team while meeting and establishing long-lasting relationships with
new friends in their communities. The Terry Fox Provincial Office will provide the Run
Organizer with full support through training and promotional materials. If you are a
community-spirited individual with energy and enthusiasm and would like more information
about how you can get involved, please contact Provincial Director, Rhonda Risebrough toll

Terry Fox’s legacy, which now totals over $550 million, has contributed to impressive strides
in cancer research. It is through the individual efforts of communities like Didsbury that the
